Geneva IL Baseball

The Geneva IL Baseball Association or just “GBA”, is a community based, non-profit organization and the objective is to provide a youth baseball program that emphasizes skill development, sportsmanship, and teamwork for the youth that reside within Geneva! We decided to sponsor them for a few stellar reasons.

1. We love baseball! Our general manager is a huge Detroit Tigers Fan. Our Financial Manager, she’s a true Chicagoan, and will cheer on the Cubs or Sox.

2. Many of our employees have children living in the Tri-Cities and support any extracurricular activity that keeps teens active and involved with their community. We also have had children active within Geneva-sports and know how fun and action-packed any game can be.

Here is a baseball poem by a man named Chaplain Bob Fox titled They Are Just Little Boys. This poem appeared on the GBA website & it really “hits home” with us as we contemplate the importance of sport teams in our hometown of Geneva.

He stands at the plate
with his heart pounding fast.
The bases are loaded,
the die has been cast.
Mom and Dad cannot help him,
he stands all alone.
A hit at this moment
would send his team home.
The ball meets the plate,
he swings and he misses.
There’s a groan from the crowd,
with some boos and some hisses.
A thoughtless voice cries,
“Strike out the bum.”
Tears fill his eyes,
the game’s no longer fun.
So open up your heart
and give him a break,
for it’s moments like this,
a man you can make.
Please keep this in mind
when you hear someone forget,
He is just a little boy,
and not a man yet.
